7/2/2026 Upper Pine Creek Fly Fishing and Hatch Report

Water Conditions- Low, Clear

Cedar Run USGS Gauge- 2:00PM- 1.36ft

Water Temp - 75-80+

Hatches- tan caddis (14-16), Yellow Sally (14-16), Light Cahill (12-14), Slate Drake (Isonychia) (12)

What's Working?

Water conditions right now are too hot for trout fishing.  Heat in the 90's all week has elevated water temps into the low to mid 80's in spots.  The surrounding small streams are also very low.

Some smallies and fallfish are being caught on streamers and dragonfly/damselfly imitations.

Other notes-

Brutal heat this week has warmed Pine considerably and the little rain we've received is not helping water levels.  Trout have moved more into survival mode and are packing into the feeder creeks.  Smallmouth fishing has been decent, though flows have made them quite skiddish too.  Look for deeper holes and runs.
