4/16/2026 Tioga County, Lyman Run, & Upper Pine Creek Fishing Report

4/16/2026 Tioga County, Lyman Run, & Upper Pine Creek Fishing Report

It's been a great week of fishing all across the county for a variety of fish species.  Many of the creeks have been restocked and challenging conditions the first few weeks helped keep many fish in the systems too.  Long Run, Crooked Creek, Mill Creek, Cowananesque River, Charleston Creek, and Pine Creek have all been popular destinations that are fishing well.  Butterworms continue to be the #1 bait, but anglers are doing well on wax worms, redworms, and minnows too.  Pink Powerbait worms, Pautzke Fire Worms, and Pautzke/Mike's Salmon Eggs are catching fish.

For other artificials, Trout Magnets, Super Duper Spoons, Joe's Flies Spinners, and Roostertails have been among the favorites, plus a variety of small stick baits.  Redfin minnow patterns continue to be super popular fish catchers!

At Beechwood and Hamilton Lakes, powerbait has been best.  Corn Yellow, Pink, Rainbow, Chartreuse, and Chartreuse garlic were most popular.  Anglers reported similar results over in Potter County at Lyman Run Lake.

Crappies-

We're getting a lot of phone calls lately about the crappie bite.  It is just starting to pick up with lake temperatures hitting the mid 50's.  The best bite has been on the smaller lakes.  It will be a few weeks till the spawn really starts to kick off, especially with freezing temps expected early next week.  The docks are in at the 3 corps lakes and the lakes are mostly dirty.  Some crappies are being caught using bright colored plastics.  As soon as the cold weather passes, the bite should improve immensely.
