5/12/2026 Upper Pine Creek Fly Fishing Report - Gaines to Galeton

5/12/2026 Upper Pine Creek Fly Fishing Report - Gaines to Galeton

5/12/2026 Pine Creek Fly Fishing & Hatch Report - Gaines to Galeton

Water Conditions- Clear/Green

Cedar Run USGS Gauge- 8PM- 3.15ft

Water Temp - 53-54

Hatches- tan caddis (14-16), March Brown (10-12), bwo (18)

What's Working?

Faster runs/riffles had few rising fish, but they would take a march brown dun sporadically. Nymphing with a March Brown jig nymph and a rubber legged nymph worked well.  Anglers have been doing well on a variety of march brown nymphs, caddis, and various euro-style jig patterns.

Other notes-

March brown hatches have been heavier in the afternoons and slower pools had more rising fish.  Some rain today, but Pine is still dropping slowly.  With warm weather expected for the next week, we should see continued good hatches.  Look for gray fox, sulphurs, and bwos. Towards the ends of the month, keep an eye out for the green drakes.

The Upper Pine Creek trout tournament is this weekend.  Expect a considerably amount of traffic from Ansonia to Galeton.
