Hamilton Lake Favorites
Hamilton Lake (Tioga County, PA), located 2.5 miles from downtown Wellsboro, is a 42 acre reservoir and a stocked trout water with year round fishing. It also boasts a healthy population of large mouth bass, panfish, and more.
With shallow weedy flats, submerged timber, and deep dropoffs, there's plenty of water to explore with a variety of techniques for bass and pickerel. Topwaters, spinnerbaits and chatterbaits can work well around the weed edges, or try a frog in the shallow upper end. Try a drop shot rig, ned rig, jig or shaky head around the dam.
Hamilton also holds good numbers of yellow perch, crappies, and bluegills. Targeting them with small soft plastics is a blast! Use a float to suspend them at the proper depth and target weed lines or timber.
Trout fishing is excellent in the spring months and picks up again the fall. Powerbait is a good go-to. Here's some great tips on how to rig it for lake fishing - Blog Post. Typically, Hamilton is restocked again in October with plenty to catch throughout the ice season too. Trolling or casting small spoons, spinners, and stick baits also works well.
The Hamilton Lake Collection represents some of our favorites and top sellers for catching bass, pickerel, trout, and panfish throughout the open water season.
Live Bait is also an excellent choice. Open 7 Days a Week. Stop by to grab live minnows, shiners, or worms.
