Fishing Reports

Fall is here!  Cooler weather has been improving the bite countywide with good catches of panfish, bass, and trout. 

Water temps are dropping in the local creeks and trout fishing has good.  Weeds continue to be a key place to find bass on all of the lakes.  Topwater baits are working well in these areas!  

Summer is almost over.  Get out and enjoy it while you can.

It was a busy holiday weekend and anglers had varying degrees of success to start out September.  Target weed beds and weed edges on any of the lakes to find bass and panfish. Trout fishing is picking back up on the streams with cooler weather settling in.  Nighttime lows in the high 40's to mid 50's has made for very foggy mornings too lately.

Fishing continues to be challenging for many as we head into September.  However, storm fronts have had bass fired up in the evenings, and persistence has paid off with decent catches on most of the lakes. Weeds are starting to die back in some spots and heavy rains last night muddied up Pine and other waters.  More rain is expected again tonight

Across the board it's been a challenging bite in the region.  Bass fishing has been tough in most of the lakes.  Panfish have been biting well in the smaller lakes. Temps on the lakes are holding in the 70s.  Most local class A trout streams are low, but fishing well with cool temperatures.   

The morning bite has been sluggish lately with cool weather and storm fronts moving through.  Evenings have fished better, particularly on the Corps lakes.

Overall, it's been a tougher week of bass fishing, though the evening topwater bite picked up nicely on a few lakes.  Summer patterns are settling in.  The catfish bite has picked up these past few weeks and continues to be good.  

Water temps are holding in the mid to upper 70's with varying water clarity ranging from clear to a heavy stain.  Bass fishing remains steady and anglers are catching them on a variety of baits.  Shad play a big role in bass and crappie diets on the Corps Lakes this time of the year.  

Fishing has been pretty good across the county and the Tackle Shack 3 day 3 Lake bass tournament is going on this weekend.  Day 1 is at Hammond, Day 2 is at Tioga. Day 3 at Cowanesque Lake. Results will be posted in our 'news' section and on our Facebook page.  Weigh ins at 2PM
