7/30/2026 Upper Pine Creek Fly Fishing and Hatch Report

Water Conditions- Mostly clear. Slight stain in spots from runoff

Cedar Run USGS Gauge- 8:00AM- 1.65ft

Water Temp - mid 60's to low 70's

Hatches- terrestrials, stoneflies

What's Working?

Nymphing deeper pockets and fishing small streamers has been best. Size 14,16 ants, and 10,12 hoppers worked on the surface.

Other notes-

Pine is holding in the mid 60's to low 70's and mornings have been fishable. Trout are dispersed and night time temps should help keep Pine cooler. However, warm afternoons and highs in the 80's will likely have temps stressful for trout late in the day, and it would be best to target smallmouth or hit the lakes. Fishing pressure has been minimal lately. Smallmouth are being caught throughout the canyon and much of Upper Pine. Consider targetting them with small streamers, particularly crayfish patterns. Foggy mornings have fished best with a challenging bite mid day with high sun. Rain is expected all week and heavy thunderstorms are moving through periodically.
