10/27/2024

Little to report lately on Pine.  Anglers are fishing and doing well on a variety of nymphs and wooly buggers.  Perdigons, stoneflies, worms, bwo, and cahill patterns are all working.  Water levels are low and little rain is in sight.  The Keystone Select stretch has fished best, but anglers are catching trout below there and much of Upper Pine, particularly through Gaines.

10/14/2024

Water levels have improved a little, but remain on the low side on upper pine.  Very clear and temps are in the low to mid 50's.  The Keystone Select stretch was restocked and the Darling Run to Owassee stretch of water is fishing well.  Worm patterns and stoneflies worked best, but fish are being caught on a variety of nymphs too.  A few fish were rising.  Caddis patterns, BWOs, cahills, and small ants are catching fish.

10/4/2024

Pine is at good temperatures, currently holding in the high 50's to low 60's.  Water is low and very clear.  Trout are plentiful and picky.  Size 14,16 cahills, ants, october caddis, and bwos have been the best patterns.  Decent numbers of rising fish through the keystone stretch.  Try a dry-dropper and emerger patterns.  Small streamers are also picking up fish.

9/1/2024

It's been a busy holiday weekend and anglers were out fishing on Pine most of the week.  Temps have been holding in the 60's.  Cooler weather these next few weeks should keep everything in fishable ranges.  Caddis, terrestrials, BWOs, and slate drakes have made up most of the action.

8/22/2024
Pine is at good levels and has a chalky color to it.  A few people are fishing and water temps were in the low 60's this afternoon.

8/12/2024
Waters continue to recede and are now just under 4ft at the Cedar Run gauge.  Without much rain, Pine should be at fishable levels by the weekend.  Currently it is still running quite dirty.  Banks are caked in mud as the water levels drop too.  The small streams are closer to normal flows and are clearing quicker.  Check out some of the Class A streams.

8/10/2024
Pine Creek crested last night at over 11 ft and is on its way back down.  Severe flooding has devastated many parts of Tioga County including parts of the Pine Creek watershed.  It will be a while until this is back to normal conditions.

8/9/2024
Pine is at 7.5 ft and still rising.  There is flooding across the county.  This is likely unfishable for at least a week if not longer.  Small streams are also raging and muddy today.

8/6/2024
Pine is at good levels now, but major rains are expected this coming weekend and could push it to unfishable levels.  Be sure to keep an eye on the gauge.  Temps forecasted for much of August look favorable to help trout make it through the summertime.  Fishing should be excellent this fall throughout upper pine!  We will try to update this weekend once the rains hit.

7/30/2024
Some rain is working through the area this week and should bring water levels up some.  Bass fishing has been good with poppers, wigglies, and hopper patterns.  The small streams have been fishing well and temps have been holding in the low 60's with decent levels.

7/13/2024
Smallmouth fishing has been excellent with a variety of patterns working.  A popper dropper setup with a small popper and hellgrammite or craw pattern dropper has worked well.  A few nice ones up to 15" have been caught through the keystone select stretch.

7/2/2024
Pine is low again and temps are holding in the 70's with more warm weather expected all week.  Smallmouth are being caught on a variety of small streamers, nymphs, and poppers.  A simple black wooly bugger is good go-to, but try small craws and similar baitfish patterns too.

6/29/2024
Rain this week has helped bring water levels up and cooled some.  Trout have been packed into the feeder creeks and this should provide some relief for a few days, but as noted earlier this week, we do not expect to see suitable temperatures to fish for trout for some time (less than 65 degrees).  Cooler water and better flows in the Class A streams are worth checking out.  Be mindful of temps as we get into the 80s next week, but for now, some of these areas should be fishable.  Ants and beetles are starting to play a big role and anglers have been catching brookies on a variety of terrestrial and dry/dropper combos.

6/24/2024
Not much to update this week. Pine is low and warm.  We do not expect to see suitable trout temps for a while with the current forecasts. Smallmouth fishing has been decent with some topwater action and plenty caught with nymphs and streamers.

6/17/2024
Warm temps and no rain has Pine quite low and quite warm.  With air temperatures expected to hit the mid 90's its no longer suitable conditions for trout fishing.  Water temps will be much too high to safely target them.  Expect to see trout pooling up in feeder creeks to survive the warm weather.  Now's the time to turn to smallmouth fishing.  Plenty are catchable throughout Pine Creek.  Small poppers, craw patterns, and various streamers all work well.

6/11/2024
Cool nights have kept Pine in the low to mid 60's in the mornings.  Afternoons it is heating up considerably.  High temps starting later this week will push Pine into much warmer temperatures and unsafe trout fishing conditions.  The small streams are in better shape, but keep an eye on temperatures as we head into the summer heat.  Cahills, Slate drakes, sulphurs, bwos, caddis, and stoneflies are hatching.  Trout will start gathering at cold water inflows to survive the summer and it is best to leave them alone until cooler weather returns.  As the water warms up, it is a good time to turn to smallmouth fishing.  There are plenty to catch through the upper half of the canyon and small streamers, topwater poppers, and even larger nymphs all work well to catch them. Or, try some of the other local streams like Tioga and Cowanesque Rivers for more warmwater action.

6/4/2024
Great fishing continues with good evening topwater action.  Slate drakes, sulphurs, cahills, bwos, stoneflies, and caddis are hatching.  Most of the rising fish are being caught late in the day or early in the morning. Nymphing deeper runs and pools is producing fish throughout the day.  Watch temperatures with warm temps starting to settle in.  Currently, water temps are holding in the low 60's on Pine.

5/28/2024
Water levels and clarity are excellent on Pine.  Green drakes are about done, but a handful are still around throughout the area.  Brown drakes, slate drakes, sulphurs, cahills, stoneflies, and caddis are hatching.

5/25/2024

As we continue through the holiday weekend, Pine is fishing very well. A little rain this evening helped keep the bugs on the water and fish were rising steadily west of Ansonia. Temp was 63 degrees around 6:30PM. A few slate drakes and cahills showed up tonight. A Green drake dun trailing a light cahill got bit until we left. It's a great time to be on the water. Get out and enjoy some fishing!

5/24/2024

The Green drakes are here and evening fishing has been incredible!  Afternoon fishing has been tougher, and mostly a sub surface game, but come evening time, the fish are rising and a ton of flies are on the water.  Caddis, sulphurs, march browns, gray fox, green drakes, yellow sallies, and larger stoneflies are all hatching.  Fish were rising well after dark and willingly taking drake patterns.

5/20/2024

Pine is running clear and the bugs are hatching!  Gray fox, March Brown, sulphurs, caddis, stoneflies, and a few Green Drakes are around.  Water temp is in high 50's to low 60's.

5/7/2024
Pine is very clear and starting to get low, but hatches continue to be strong.  March Browns, Caddis, and BWOs are on the water.  Temps have been holding in the low to mid 60's.  Cooler weather this week and rain should keep temperatures in check.  Anglers reported some sulphurs too in the region.  These should be more plentiful soon.

4/30/2024
Conditions are perfect and there are a ton of bugs on the water.  Caddis are coming off in huge numbers as well as some hendricksons and March Browns.  Evenings are filled with rising trout taking a variety of dries.

4/23/2024
Pine is in excellent shape going into the weekend.  A few caddis, quill gordons, hendricksons, and stones are hatching.  Few rising fish these past few days, but topwater action should improve greatly this week!  Temps are holding in the high 40's to low 50's. A variety of nymphs, wooly buggers, and worm flies are all working.  With warmer weather moving in this weekend, we expect to see some excellent fishing!

4/14/2024 Pine is coming back down and today it is running much clearer.  Conditions will be ideal again probably Tuesday.  As of this morning, levels are still up and running about 2 feet high.

4/12/2024 More rain has Pine Creek on the rise again.  Yesterday anglers did well on most of the creek and it was running high but clearer.  Today, we have dirtier conditions and levels are steadily rising.  Expect tough conditions through the weekend on Pine with high winds and cooler temps coming tomorrow.  Conditions will start to improve early next week as this storm system passes.

4/6/2024 Pine is coming down nicely and clearing.  Marsh Creek is still dumping dirty water in, but upstream of there, it is in much better shape.  Levels should be ideal in a couple more days.

4/4/2024 Heavy rains pounded the area all week and Pine is current blown out and running solid mud.  It'll be at least a few days until this gets close to fishable conditions again.  The smaller tribs will clear up and drop a little faster and things should start to improve by early next week.

3/31/2024 Great reports all weekend from the Keystone Select stretch! Black stones are hatching and a variety of nymph and streamers are working.  Pine is a nice level.  Temps are still holding in the upper 40's.

3/25/2024 Pine is fishing well through the recently stocked Keystone Select stretch.  Size 12-14 black stoneflies are hatching.  Copper Johns, Prince nymphs, wooly buggers, squirmy worms, mops, hare's ears, frenchies, and similar staple patterns are all working well.
